Melonea Locklair Marek is a College of Charleston graduate with a BS in Sociology. She has been in the Victim Assistance field since 1990 when she established the Law Enforcement based victim assistance program at the Summerville Police Department. Melonea was one of the founding members of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Victim Advocate Association (SCLEVA).
Over the years, Melonea has worked for many lowcountry agencies including the Dee Norton Lowcountry Children's Center, Managed Treatment Services, Children's Medical Assessment Center and most recently as the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator for the Fleet and Family Support Center at Charleston Naval Weapons Station. Melonea was first introduced to PAR in 1990 when she was coordinating services for the Summerville Police Department. And in fact, worked for PAR as a Victim Advocate while attending college.
